The threat of rain did not deter 18 walkers and puppy from heading to the Glendalough Hills for a challenging hike. The group made up of Ranelagh Church members and friends decided to follow the Derrybawn Woodland Trail. This route took us along a forest path on the Derrybawn Mountain which afforded a magnificent aspect of the Glendalough Valley.

The steep downhill walk alongside the Poulanass Waterfall was rewarded by the postcard view of the Upper Lake where we lingered and watched dogs blissfully splashing in the water. Heavy showers along the way roused the group to a brisk pace.  These were interspersed with outbursts of almost tropical sunshine with many photo opportunities. At the end of the walk we were grateful for the time spent basking in Gods creation and a wonderful day of fellowship.

The Ranelagh Ramblers team organises hikes throughout the year that suit walkers of all abilities. We also welcome families with children.
